Outpatient 

 

QTOP - QLD Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative program

 

QTOP is able to provide a private 2 hour brief intervention session with a qualified drug and alcohol counsellor that has over 21 years of industry experience.  The topics addressed through the session are:-

 

  • understanding the underlying issues behind addictions; 

  • the cycle of addiction; 

  • the stages of change; 

  • the grief cycle & anger/hatred; and

  • conculsion - weighing up the costs v benefits.

 

A certificate of attendance from QTOP will be provided to be tendered to the court as evidence of completion.

ATODS - Back in Control - SCRAP Book Program

 

The SCRAP Book program is a self-conducted, home based education program completed over six sessions.  It is suited to people who have or have had drug and/or alcohol concerns.  The program is free of charge, confidential and open to anyone who wishes to work on their problem in their own time.  It deals with the following topics:-

 

  • understanding drug use

  • making a change

  • staying on track

  • changing ways of thinking

  • dealing with difficult emotions

  • problem solving and goal setting

 

A certificate will be issued on completion of the program.

`BIALA'

 

Biala provides acute treatment services for alcohol and other drug use.  It also offers a needle and syringe program. Available services include:-

 

  • general alcohol and drug assessment services

  • assessment for admission to hospital based alcohol and drug detoxification programs

  • outpatient detoxification from alcohol and other drugs such as speed, cannabis, heroin or prescribed medication.

Princess Alexandra Hospital

 

The PA Hospital has an alcohol and drug assessment unit which provides outpatient assessment and programs for people with substance misuse problems.  Services include:

 

  • quit programs for cannabis and amphetamines

  • assessment of an individual's problems and an explanation of suitable rehabilitation options

  • assistance in providing referrals to other services

Inpatient

 

Logan House

 

Logan House provides a specialised drug treatment program in a safe and supportive environment.  The treatment program usually takes six months, although this can be adjusted if required.

Moonyah

 

Moonyah provides a residential program based around the twelve step principles used in narcotics anonymous. It includes three phases involving the principles and habits needed to maintain recovery from addiction.  The duration of the program will depend upon the needs of each individual person but is approximately 10 months.
