Emma has a keen interest and passion for criminal law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Griffith University. Emma has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
Emma has a broad range of practical criminal law experience. Initially she was appointed an Associate to a Judge of the District Court of Queensland, gaining invaluable insights into the workings of the Court. Emma subsequently worked for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, instructing the Principal Crown Prosecutor in Supreme and District Court criminal trials and sentences. She has undertaken voluntary work for the Logan Youth Legal Services and the Arts Law Council Queensland where she has helped vulnerable members of society.
Emma resolved that criminal defence was her preferred end of the bar table and joined the Potts Lawyers team where she has worked on some of the firm's major criminal cases.
Emma has developed a successful personal practice because of her commitment to achieve the best possible result for her her clients. Her experience of the day to day workings of the criminal justice system have honed her skills as a very effective criminal law advocate.
