QTOP - QLD Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative program

 

QTOP is able to provide a private 2 hour brief intervention session with a qualified drug and alcohol counsellor that has over 21 years of industry experience.  The topics addressed through the session are:-

 

  • understanding the underlying issues behind addictions; 

  • the cycle of addiction; 

  • the stages of change; 

  • the grief cycle & anger/hatred; and

  • conculsion - weighing up the costs v benefits.

 

A certificate of attendance from QTOP will be provided to be tendered to the court as evidence of completion.

ATODS - Back in Control

 

Back in Control is a drug education and relapse prevention program.  It is conducted as a group over six sessions and is suited to people who have or have had drug and/or alcohol concerns.  The program is free of charge, confidential and open to anyone who wishes to work on their problem.  It deals with the following topics:-

 

  • understanding drug use

  • making a change

  • staying on track

  • changing ways of thinking

  • dealing with difficult emotions

  • problem solving and goal setting

 

This program can also be undertaken self-conducted and home-based for person who meet certain criteria (SCRAP book option).

 

A certificate will be issued on completion of the program.

MIRIKAI - Stop Pot

 

The Stop Pot course is an education and supportive group for current cannabis users.  It takes place in a small group on a weekly basis from 6.00-800pm running for 5 weeks. This course normally costs $15.00, with health care holders free of charge.  Group topics include:-

 

  • assessment, motivational work, behavioural monitoring

  • triggers/urges, planning to quit, social support, withdrawal

  • basics of CBT techniques specific to cannabis

  • cognitive restructuring-cannabis, review withdrawal, skills (anger, assertion)

  • relapse prevention

Currumbin Clinic

 

The Currumbin Clinic offers a number of treatment options including detoxification and drug abuse/dependency programs.  The programs introduce patients to the 12 steps for recovery which is integral to the Narcotics Anonymous worldwide support network.

The Buttery

 

The Buttery is located near Bangalow in Northern NSW. It is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation guided by the philosophy - Addiction is not a consequence of choice: recovery is.  It specialises in the treatment of drug misuse through both residential rehabilitation community outreach programs.
